National Account Manager – Retail
Salary: £40000 to £50000
My Client are a business that operates in the sourcing, development, production, and the distribution of food products. It provides a wide range of food products for foodservice, retail, public institutions, wholesalers, and manufacturers in the UK and in Ireland.
They are now looking for someone to build on an existing customer base and drive forward new business. The successful candidate will be responsible for a number of major retailers, and it is key that you already have experience in this sector. The business is growth focused, and therefore a high proportion of your target will be new business. They have a great range of products, sourced from numerous continents, which they continuously add to with their active NPD department focusing on specific customer briefs. It is therefore essential you have had exposure to an NPD Process & Product Development.
Duties and Responsibilities
*Develop and maintain national accounts business in terms of volume and profit by range selling our products & NPD creation to customer demands.
*Lead or contribute to achieving new retail customers whilst defending current business accounts by ensuring good working relationships are maintained with current account base.
*Working closely with the Supply Chain team through forecasting and delivery
*Financial control within budgetary remit.
*Work closely with NPD team & Head of Department.
*Liaise with the Credit Control department regarding outstanding invoices / debts
*In conjunction with the Sector Head compile and implement a new business development growth plan for Retail Sector.
*Customer visits required on a National basis.
*Produce Customer Sales reports as required by the customer
*Proven track record of profitable sales delivery and new business development essential
*In depth experience of selling products into the Retail Sector with an existing customer base essential
*Experience of working with NPD teams
*4+ years sales experience within the commercial retail sector
*Strong preference for a food industry background although other FMCG products will be considered
*Demonstrable knowledge of selling into the Retail Sectors
*Strong presentation skills, internally and externally
*Hands on account management and ability to manage other team members
*Ability to build key customer relationships
*Ability to maximise selling opportunities by analysing customer needs
*Awareness of NPD Processes
*Good level of IT and numeracy skills
*Ability to influence and negotiate in a confident manner, always maintaining a clear commitment to delivering business results
*Strong written communication skills
*Good organisational skills, time management and able to prioritise workloads
*The ability to engage and inspire with customers and colleagues
