Job Title: Logistics Team Leader

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Logistics Team Leader to join our client, a leading packaging manufacturing company currently based in Saffron Walden. Due to continued growth, they are due to move to Newmarket towards the end of June.
As the Logistics Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the transport function of their business, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods to their customers. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the driving team and all outgoing transport operations.
Responsibilities:
*Lead, manage, and hold accountable the driving team on a daily basis
*Assess sales orders to determine the most optimal means of transport
*Plan and route delivery vehicles daily, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries
*Manage the workload of the drivers, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
*Coordinate additional transport and labour as required
*Liaise with the sales team to address any issues and fulfil their requests promptly
*Oversee the servicing, repair, and maintenance of delivery vehicles as needed
*Ensure compliance with operator’s license, CPC, and tachograph regulations on a weekly basis
*Manage associated administrative tasks, including toll charges and documentation
*Handle drivers’ holiday requests and other absences as required
Skills/Attributes Required:
*Strong leadership and people management skills
*Understanding of operators licence requirements
*Punctuality and attention to detail
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Effective planning and time management abilities
*Positive can-do attitude and self-motivation
*Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
*Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively
*Previous experience in Class 2 driving
*Proven experience in driver management and fleet management
*IT literate with proficiency in relevant software and systems
Certifications/Licenses Required:
*Clean driving license
*Counterbalance FLT license
*CPC certification Class 2
