Our client is a real success story having been operating for over 50 years wholesaling horticulture products to various routes to market, from market stall operators through to some of the larger players in garden centre retail. Employing around 30 people the business is successful and profitable and is poised for future growth.
The position has come about due to retirement, but the board feel that this is now an opportunity to bring someone in with fresh ideas and with the ability to take the business on and really drive it forward. As well as their existing customers there are various new routes to market for them and so we need someone who can develop a plan and then execute it taking the business on to the next level.
We are looking for someone who can manage a team, and certainly who understands horticulture. We need someone who can control the margin mix, who can set and then deliver budgets by managing a capable and competent team.
Of graduate calibre, it could be that you are working within the Garden Centre trade in a managerial position, or you have been working within horticulture in a commercial role and would want to progress to the next stage. This opportunity will test your man management, planning and organisational skills as it is a ‘hands on’ culture, yet you will be given the opportunity to test your strategic thinking in creating a new business model which will take it on further.
