Category Insight Executive – Home based with travel to London
Our client, a major supplier to the high street grocers is now looking to strengthen their team by appointing a Category Insight Executive to work alongside the retail head office buying team of one of their major customers.
Reporting in to the Head of Commercial, you will be working with both the supplier and the retail buying team in analysing sales data and trends, spotting any potential opportunities or problems and then helping both in maximising sales and minimizing waste.
Will be responsible for collating, interpreting and sharing the market data for all customers internally and externally to the appropriate people. You will be responsible for liaising with customers ensuring excellent commercial relationships. The individual will have direct responsibility for the insight function within the business and for the retailer.
You will need to be analytical and organised, have strong data skills and yet have the ability to communicate with everyone from buying directors through to store staff in helping drive sales forward.
We really need someone who has experience in either a retail head office merchandising function or someone with category insight experience who wants to experience and further develop their career in a retail environment.
Main duties
*Help increase profitability and sales through having strong commercial awareness.
*Be involved in executing a coherent commercial strategy for the business with the customer.
*Support the commercial manager with commercial information to develop presentations and support with commercial negotiations.
*Be aware of market trends, customer requirements and new sales opportunities and support the commercial manager to deliver.
*Develop and maintain strong relationships with all internal retail head office functions from buying to technical and where appropriate marketing, operations, etc.
*Contribute to the design, development and launch of new products
*Continually review product and range performance across the account and initiate improvements where required.
*Day to day management of customer needs to ensure that the customer receives a professional and efficient approach.
*Weekly in depth sales analysis – understand the numbers and develop and implement actions to resolve and improve.
*Review of service level and opportunity for increasing orders where appropriate
*Being instrumental in building a secure relationship between the retailer and supplier to ensure a high performing team is in place.
